CHECK-IN BETWEEN 5:30 AND 5:45 P.M.
FEE: $10/attendee (chaperones are FREE). Limit of one chaperone per attendee.
APPROXIMATE PROGRAM DURATION: 3 HOURS. FEEL FREE TO STAY AFTERWARDS FOR OUR FREE ASTRONOMY PROGRAM, WHICH LASTS UNTIL ABOUT 10:30 P.M.
Parents or scout leaders must supervise their children or scouts at all times during this program and during star gazing.
Boy Scouts are expected to have read the merit badge book and must bring their blue card from their Scoutmaster. Every attempt is made to complete all merit badge requirements during the workshop (if pre-requisites have been completed and if the sky is clear). If the sky is not clear after sunset, you may attend one of the other monthly astronomy programs, but you MUST notify Park Naturalist/astronomy merit badge counselor Sarah Wolf if you will be attending. Not all Park Naturalists are astronomy merit badge counselors and will not be able to sign off on your completed requirements.
Merit badges are not given out at the workshop; however, all participants will receive a special Hendricks County Parks Nature Challenge badge!
Bring your BSA Astronomy merit badge book, your completed worksheet pages with the prerequisites, a flashlight or headlamp with a red lens, bug spray, a light jacket, a snack, and water bottle.
Please eat supper before the program.
